visitor & site statistic reporting
Objectives of Web Analytics:...
View visitor information and determine if this information falls within the range of the targeted audience(s).
As with the building and testing of any website, your website was built with specific groups of visitors in mind. Some of the items that are typically considered and used to build a site to a targeted audience(s) include geographical location, language & jargon, and gender & age.
No matter how much preliminary work is done for targeted audiences, our preconceived audience may not describe the actual visitors to the website. We would therefore like to view and record the visitor information as outlined below on a regular routine.
|
Example: Your website was more than likely built in English and built to serve customers in the continental United States only. You may be interested in expanding this area if enough interest is found in reviewing this geographical data. However additional analytic data would need to be evaluated before making this type of change.
|
These statistics tell us what website the visitor came from and the search terms used (if from a search engine), as well as the times/days they visited. This information can give us further insight to the possible gender and age of the site visitors.
Review the typical tasks performed by the visitors and determine what areas of the site are successful and where improvements/changes are needed.
|
By reviewing and documenting these items, we can determine how visitors to the your website are directed to the website and how they are using the site. We can determine shopping cart abandonment, conversion rates, as well as repeat customers. We can also use this data to determine the best times of day and day of the week for updating the website's content and/or initiate online specials and sales. We can make adjustments and additions to the site in order to improve the visitors experience and to ultimately meet your specific goal(s). By keeping records of this data, we can see what is working and what is not working. We realize that not all visitors to your website will complete the desired task. But by making changes based on the information these items show us, we should increase traffic and ultimately reach our desired goal(s). |
Review website performance & technical information to determine if the site continues to utilize the technologies used by its visitors, and to correct page errors.
It is important to routinely review website performance & technical information in order for your website to make sure it's performing without error, to verify it continues to fit the needs of its visitors, and to make necessary adjustments to the site based on these findings.
|
Example: Your website was built using asp, Javascript, and flash. It was tested with several different browsers (and versions), operating systems, and speeds. It is imperative to review these items so we can determine whether the site is using the technologies used by the majority of visitors. Necessary adjustments to the site may need to be made based on these findings. |
Determine the success of marketing strategies (special offers).
|
Marketing strategies (special offers) can come from different sources. They can be offers generated from banner advertisement campaigns and links from other website(s), email campaigns, and/or links directly from your website. They will generally involve a landing page. We can track this information and based on the conversion rate, determine if the marketing campaign was successful. |
Identify products generating sales, generating interest but not sales, and not generating any interest or sales.
|
By mining down deeply into the "shop" area of your website and reviewing these statistics, we can determine the products generating sales, generating interest but not sales, and products not generating any interest or sales. The products generating interest but not sales may mean that the pricing may need to be reduced or the particular items are not to the customer's liking. The products not generating any interest or sales may mean that these products may need to be discontinued or revamping this area of the website. |
Review referrer & search engine statistics.
|
We can review the domains and URLs that your visitors come from. We can review the statistics pertaining to search engine performance such as the search engines which referred visitors to your website, the keywords and phrases visitors searched for (broken down by each search engine). We can also determine which search engine spiders visited the site. The information gathered here can assist us with your link campaigns and your search engine optimization. |
Monitoring and using the data routinely collected from website analytic tools, we can make necessary updates, changes, and corrections to your site in order to meet your goals. Feel free to contact us with your questions or to request a proposal for visitor & site statistic reporting (along with recommendations included with each report).
